The customer-is-always-right thing built a world of beige. Focus-grouped fits. Sale-on-arrival pricing. Every edge sanded down until there's nothing left to react to. You can't focus-group a point of view — the second you ask 500 people to approve it, it stops being one.

Ask everyone what they want and you'll end up making something for no one.

So we don't. We make the piece. We make 100. We put it up Saturday at noon. You're either in or you're not — and both of those are fine.
